Frequently asked questions
-
Psychological counselling, or treatment, refers to support from a mental health practitioner that can help better understand your issues or boost coping skills. Treatment may include therapeutic approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Psychology sessions are eligible for Medicare rebates.
On the other hand, coaching is for anyone that wants to achieve their goals faster. Coaching is often related to work or career aspirations, similar to executive coaching. This can be sponsored by your workplace. -
Psychological counselling sessions are eligible for Medicare Rebates under the government’s Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative.
You can book an appointment with your GP for a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). This acts as a referral letter that makes you eligible for 10 rebated sessions per year. The Medicare rebate amounts to $93.35 per session. -
Please note we have a strict cancellation policy. We appreciate sufficient notice to cancel an appointment.
If you cancel the appointment within 48 hours, you will incur a 50% cancellation fee of the session cost. This is because cancelling within 48 hours may mean another client would miss out on that time slot. Please reschedule and let us know of any changes at your earliest convenience.
There is also a 25% late penalty fee for any overdue payments that are unpaid 28 days after the appointment.
You are welcome to get in contact to clarify or discuss any of these payments.

Private health insurance is an option depending on your level of cover. If your level of cover includes ‘extras’ or ‘ancillary’ services that include psychology, you could make a claim to receive a partial rebate for the session. I am currently registered with the providers: ahm, Medibank, hbf, HCF, AIA.
If you are seeing a WorkSafe registered psychologist, you will need a referral from your GP along with a letter from your WorkCover insurer to claim sessions (based on the current WorkSafe fees).
